Roy Keane Criticizes David de Gea’s Desire to Be Transferred from Man Utd

Manchester United secured their spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season with a victory over Chelsea, prompting some players to celebrate David de Gea’s Golden Glove award win.

However, former United captain Roy Keane was far from impressed, expressing his disapproval during a Sky Sports segment. Keane downplayed De Gea’s achievement, stating that defensive improvements were necessary, and suggesting that the goalkeeper should be swiftly moved on from the club.

Keane dismissed the idea of retaining De Gea as a backup option, citing the player’s desire to secure a starting position elsewhere. While acknowledging De Gea’s occasional brilliance, Keane emphasized the importance of team accomplishments over individual accolades.

Furthermore, De Gea’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and speculation regarding his potential replacements, such as Dean Henderson or Matej Kovar, has arisen among fans. This season has been characterized by both notable saves and costly errors for the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, including moments that contributed to the team’s Europa League exit.
