Man United Supporters Display Passion for Change by Presenting Green and Gold Scarf to Erik ten Hag

Man United’s win against Aston Villa at Old Trafford took a backseat to fan protests before the game. The Glazer family’s ownership of the club has been a source of controversy and frustration for many supporters, leading to a gathering of around 1000 fans in Manchester city centre.

The 1958, a prominent fan group, encouraged supporters to wait outside for the first 18 minutes of the match – a reference to the 18 years of Glazer ownership. The protesters donned yellow and green scarves, a symbol that has been used in the past to promote the anti-Glazer movement.

As the game ended and Erik ten Hag made his way towards the tunnel, fans threw a yellow and green scarf towards the United boss. Rather than ignore it, Ten Hag picked it up and waved it at the crowd. A clip of the incident has since gone viral on social media, with many fans praising the Dutchman’s gesture.

While the victory keeps United on track for a top-four finish, the protest and scarf gesture highlight the ongoing frustrations of many supporters towards the Glazers’ ownership. The incident could also be seen as a show of support for Ten Hag, who has only been in the United hotseat for a short time but is already making an impression on the fans.
